School board hears 20-21 budget forecast

The NBAPS school board held a work session on Thursday, Jan. 23, at 5:30 p.m. in the large gym at the North Branch Area Education Center. The agenda included a 2020-21 budget forecast and discussion about utilizing a search firm to assist with a superintendent search. Meeting materials can be found here, and here is a podcast of the meeting.

20-21 budget forecast: Director of Business Services Todd Tetzlaff reviewed the current year budget as well as projections for next year. NBAPS will need to make modest adjustments totalling $500,000 for next year.
The process of building a recommendation to address the needed adjustments is already underway. NBAPS welcomes input and questions as it works toward a recommendation. If you have budget input, you are welcome to provide it using one of the two following methods:

Superintendent search: The school board set a special meeting for Thursday, Feb. 6, at 5:30 p.m. in the large gym at the North Branch Area Education Center to interview potential search firms to assist in securing a new superintendent. Thus far three search firms have expressed interest in working with the school district.

In other news: The 1-9-20 Board Brief should have included a change to school board compensation. As part of its organizational meeting, the school board approved an increase to the school board clerk's reimbursement, from $300 to $500 annually.
