Incumbent Jesse LaValla was elected to the North Branch Area Public Schools school board on Tuesday, Nov. 2. LaValla ran unopposed and received 131 of the 149 votes cast in the election. Election results, currently unofficial, will be canvassed by the NBAPS school board on Wednesday, Nov. 10, at 5:30 p.m. in room C120 at the North Branch Area Education Center.
LaValla's election means he will complete the term vacated by former school board chair Kirby Ekstrom, who resigned his position in January of 2021. LaValla was appointed to replace Ekstrom until the next general election. LaValla's term will expire in January of 2023.
"I am very humbled and honored by the amount of support I received from the North Branch community," said LaValla. "I am beyond excited to continue to serve as a board member and would like to thank all the individuals who made it out to vote."
