Selbitschka named Coach of the Year!

Mike Selbitschka

North Branch Area High School (NBAHS) varsity volleyball coach Mike Selbitschka has been named Class AA's Head Coach of the Year by the Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Association. Selbitschka and his squad won the Class AA state championship in November, defeating Marshall High School in five sets.

Coach of the Year honorees are selected by fellow high school volleyball coaches from around the state. Said Selbitschka of the honor, "An award like this is not possible without a dedicated staff of coaches and players committed to teamwork, excellence, passion and grit. Thank you to all associated with Vikings Volleyball!"

Selbitschka will be recognized during the President's address at the annual Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Association Summer Coaching Clinic on Wednesday, July 24, and will also be invited to attend the Minnesota Coaches Association Awards Banquet in the fall, put on by the Minnesota Coaches Association.

"It would be hard for me to fathom a more deserving candidate for this recognition than Coach Selbitschka," said NBAHS Activities Director Matt Lattimore. "It's not just his coaching ability that makes him special; anyone who spends five minutes around him and his team can see how much he cares about each of his players, on and off the court."
