Max Malmquist, local author and NBAHS graduate, was on hand at last Thursday's school board meeting to donate $100,000 to create long-term scholarships for NBAPS graduates.
Malmquist will continue to provide two scholarships of $2,500 annually for graduating seniors, and be involved in the launch of “The Max Advantage Financial Challenge” this spring. The Max Advantage is a personal finance competition focused on budgeting, saving, investing, and practical money management.

North Branch Area Community Education, along with the North Branch Beautification Association, is hosting a Pickleball Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 21! Proceeds will go toward the Veterans Memorial.

SKOL! to Scheuring Speed Sports for its donation of $200 to North Branch Area High School. A number of NBAHS students were on hand for the donation, surrounding sled #44, the sled of Scheuring Speed Sports pro racer and NBAHS alumnus Anson Scheele. North Branch Area Public Schools is currently experiencing a phone outage exclusively with Verizon phones. Staff are working diligently to correct this issue. Jim VanEerden coached his 600th basketball game last night! In his time he has coached both boys and girls at middle school and high school levels. Students were given the opportunity to tour Rosenbauer in Wyoming today. They were able to get a behind the scenes tour of custom fire trucks used at airports and by the US Air Force around the world. Thanks Rosenbauer!
Thanks to the NBAHS Harmonaires for providing some wonderful Christmas carols at yesterday's North Branch Chamber of Commerce luncheon. It was such a nice treat and really put everyone in the holiday spirit!
Due to rural road conditions, North Branch Area Public Schools is delaying the start of the school day by two hours today, Wednesday, Dec. 10. There will be no A.M. early childhood classes. School age care will open as scheduled at 5:45 a.m. Please have students at bus stops two hours after their regularly scheduled pick-up. Schools will be open for students to begin arriving two hours later than normal.

All Targeted Services classes, community education events and early childhood classes are canceled for this evening. Buildings will be closed. School Age Care will remain open during its typical hours.

More job shadowing for high school students interested in the automotive industry. Last week students were treated to a tour of the shops at Kadlec Chevrolet here in North Branch. They also had the opportunity to job shadow in their area of interest. Thanks Kadlec Chev!

In Intro to Engineering, high school students are learning how to design and create in CAD (computer-aided design). They can then see their designs come to life through the 3-D printer. Their first project with CAD was to create a nameplate. The nameplate must be able to hold something and have a name on it.
The next project was to create chess pieces for a staff member. Each student was in charge of designing at least two pieces.
Their most recent project is to create a 3-D puzzle. Each puzzle had to have at least two pieces. They had to create an assembly file for it in CAD as well. Through that they assembled their project using Solid Edge before printing it to make sure their pieces fit together.
All of the designs were created by the students using Solid Edge. They first sketch their design, create it in Solid Edge, and print it using the 3-D printer. Students will end the semester with a reverse engineering project. Nice work!

Working from a provided blueprint of a 14' x 36' single-story house, students used a 1:25 scale to recreate the structure. Each student was responsible for building one wall, with larger sections completed by small groups. The twist: they only received the blueprint for their wall and couldn’t see the full design until assembly day.
This hands-on challenge required accuracy, teamwork, and accountability, as every piece needed to align perfectly for the house to come together. We’re proud of their craftsmanship and excited to keep building meaningful learning experiences!
