On Oct. 17, NBAHS Outdoor Adventure Students had an opportunity to push themselves physically and mentally when they faced the Trollhaugen Aerial Adventure Park. This experience puts students in a environment where they need to work together, support each other, problem solve in difficult situations and conquer fears; many things that would likely come up in a survival situation. There were so many moments on this trip where students paused and said, “I can’t do this,” and then they pushed themselves and overcame. Skol!

Students in Mrs. Cook’s Ag Food Processing class have been busy learning about food preservation and safe home canning practices. Students had the opportunity to try something new by canning carrot pickles from carrots donated by a community member. Students have worked hard to learn how to select, prepare, and safely heat and preserve high acid foods using the boiling water method. They will continue processing and canning produce and look forward to making applesauce, jam, and other canned goods this fall. Projects like these are made possible by community donations and the Statewide Health Improvement Partnership grant.
