Today the NBFD was at the Life Work Center providing training to students in how to property operate a fire extinguisher. Not only did the students learn about it, but we're able to use it and put out a contained fire! Thanks NBFD!

NBAMS seventh graders completed a patriotic group art project in preparation for Veterans Day. Each student embellished five paper feathers for the bald eagle, painting two of them brown for the body. Some wrote traits they admire about military members while others wrote down the names of family members who served our country. Many students chose to draw an image to show their admiration as well.
Art teacher, Mrs. Falen, painted the eye and beak, then attached the feathers in place. It took over 325 feathers to fill the cardboard shape! This project was a labor of love to show our respect for all the sacrifices our veterans have made.

Students in Youth Connections celebrated Halloween by decorating cookies today. Yum!

NBAMS 6th grade hex 1 art students had the opportunity to create Peace Posters for a contest with the North Branch Lions Club. Art teacher, Lee Ann Falen, and Lions Club member, Bob Olsen, worked together to offer students the challenge of visually representing what the contest theme of "Together as One" could look like.
All 30 art students created posters and the class voted on which projects were the strongest. The 10 that earned the most votes were sent to the Lions Club to narrow down the top three entries.
The final results were:
1st place with $100 prize--Tannar Wolff
2nd place with $75 prize--Grace Wenzel
3rd place with $50 prize--Zia Anderson
The next step is having Tannar’s drawing move on to another round of judging. This is an international contest, so only one project from many countries will be chosen as the overall winner.

Both the JV and Varsity Drill Teams performed exceptionally well, earning third place in Team Commander Inspection, Color Guard, Unarmed Exhibition Drill, and Unarmed Regulation Drill. They also earned second place in the Drone Competition, and Raymond Johnson took first place in Individual Drone with the fastest time of the day. At the end of the competition, the Vikings finished third overall!

Welding students at NBAHS said "thank you" to Airgas this week! NBAHS applied for and received a $5,000 grant from Airgas to purchase a new multi-process welder, a welding coupon bend tester, and a large handful of other supplies used in the shop.
NBAHS is proud to be growing a strong welding and metal fabrication program and expanding a wide range of Career and Technical Education (CTE) opportunities for students. These programs are designed to help students discover their passions, gain hands-on experience, and prepare for successful futures in high-demand industries that offer sustainable wages and valuable, industry-recognized credentials.
SKOL! and thanks to Airgas for partnering with NBAHS to strengthen these opportunities!

Ms. Maggie’s class got into the Halloween spirit last week with a yummy healthy candy corn themed snack! (Banana, mandarin oranges, a squirt of cool-whip, and of course a candy corn 😉) it was SPOOK-TACULAR! 🎃🖤🧡

Today was Unity Day at NBAMS; the signature event of National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month. Participants wear or share orange to promote kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Students were provided an orange heart and asked to write examples of how they can support others who have been hurt or harmed, treat others with kindness, be more accepting of people’s differences, or help include those who are left out. Hearts were hung in the main hallway for all to enjoy!

Students from the All Culture Club staffed concessions for Tuesday night's Vikings football quarterfinal win over Rock Ridge. They were raising money for the All Culture Club, which empowers students to lead activities that celebrate and promote the many cultures represented in our schools. SKOL! and thanks!
