Happy Hmong American Day! This day honors the diverse identities, cultural legacies, and historical contributions of the Hmong community to American life. In celebration of the day, several students wore traditional attire to school.

Last Friday, 8th graders heard a presentation from Know the Truth, through MN Adult and Teen Challenge. The program focuses on preventing youth substance abuse. Speakers educated students on the dangers of drugs and alcohol and shared personal stories of addiction and recovery.

Congratulations to the NBAHS Adapted Bowling Team! They took 3rd place in the state tournament last Friday. Said coach Alyssa Nelson, "I couldn't be more proud of the North Branch Adapted Bowling team who took 3rd place in teams at the state tournament yesterday!!! They played their best match of the season yesterday with many PRs obtained!" More photos will be posted on the MSHL website.

Today NBAHS held a walking pep rally for the Adapted Bowling Team for qualifying for the state tournament! Shelby Pantelis, Leeann Otterson, and Briana Beck are competing in the singles tournament; Ben Elliott, Molly Sullivan, Briana Beck, and Madelyn Phillips earned their spot in the team competition. The MSHSL tournament is tomorrow in Brooklyn Park! Way to go bowlers and go get 'em!

Students from Sunrise and the Middle School competed in different field events at the DAPE challenge Rush City yesterday. The middle school DAPE (Developmental Adapted Physical Education) helpers were a big reason the event went so well. These 8th grade students are pillars in creating all inclusivity within our schools and we couldn’t be more proud. High school mentors and middle school mentees along with 8th grade student leaders took a trip to Base Camp at Fort Snelling. They participated in many team building activities throughout the day. A special thanks to NBAEF for their support and making this trip happen!

5th graders in Mrs. John and Mrs. Peters class kicked off Mission to Mars STEM kits last week. We will be working on planning a mission to Mars including designing the base and energy systems, conducting experiments on various items, programming a rover and so much more. The STEM kits allow students to apply their math and science skills in a fun and innovative way! All of 5th grade is using the kits courtesy of Starbase MN!
